STATUS OF BERESTEYN DEVELOPMENT

The development of Beresteyn depends on the configuration of the Stationsplein (Station Square).

City Council Decision on Stationsplein

On Tuesday, November 21, the city council made a decision regarding the Stationsplein.

From three options, the council chose the 'good neighbors' variant. To enhance access to the station for cyclists, two options will be further developed. The municipality of Haarlem is inviting Haarlem residents and travelers to participate in the decision-making process. The two options are as follows:

  • Retain the location of the bus station and create a two-way bicycle path on Jansweg.
  • Relocate the bus station, providing more space for cyclists and pedestrians on Kruisweg by diverting buses from Kruisweg.

The municipality plans to engage with Haarlem residents and travelers in the first quarter of 2024 to discuss these two options.

Documents related to the city council decision can be found on the website of the municipality of Haarlem: Meeting Decision List Municipal Executive 21-11-2023 Municipality of Haarlem (notubiz.nl), item 19.

What does this mean for the development of Beresteyn?

Until the municipality decides on the preferred option, we cannot proceed with a plan for the development of Beresteyn. The municipality is expected to announce the next steps in the spring of 2024. Once we have a clearer understanding of the municipality's follow-up plans, we will inform you.
