Integrated area vision – Haarlem station district 2020-2040

Haarlem’s station district is to undergo a transformation. The entire area will be radically reshaped, and for the Municipality of Haarlem this meant that an area vision had to be developed. This vision forms the compass for the step-by-step development of the district and brings together all aspects of the city.

With the help of various experts and stakeholders, including Vastint Netherlands, a vision has been drawn up that serves the joint ambitions: a future-proof public transport hub and pleasant urban area that come together in a meaningful place, an area that residents of Haarlem are proud of.

The vision is formed on the basis of five ambitions that all contribute to a meaningful place for local residents and visitors. The ambitions bring together the mobility of the city with the creation of a meaningful place. The strength of the ambitions lies in their coherence and balanced interests.

Vastint Netherlands will work together with the area partners in transforming the station district. The aim is to transform it into a high-quality public transport hub, and by doing so to create a splendid entrance to the city.

The area vision was approved by the Municipal Council in July 2021. The next step is to choose the preferred model for the station district during the course of 2022.
